Hi All -

February 7, 2012 Sorry that I was out of touch last week, but Lilly was sick with mastitis and there were just lots of things going on here. The puppies are doing fantastic they have had lots of changes these past several days. New and bigger play areas. Looking to allowing them some time on the puppy porch in a few days!

Family day is this Sunday the 12th from 1:00PM to 4:00PM - open house style, come see puppies visit with others, ask some questions and have lots of smiles. If you are not going to make it let me know!

Two video's for you have been posted to You Tube ( week 3 videos)

The babies are growing like weeds. They change hour by hour like puppies do! They are still completely dependent on Lilly and I, but the past couple of days they have become remarkably cute if I have to say so... (smile) Their eyes are open and their adorable little faces light up my life like no other sight. They can hear now and are beginning to toddle around a little bit for oh thirty seconds or so before they plop just where they are into sweet slumber. By age to weight gain ratio they are all in the top 10% with our "smallest" puppies (two boys) light green and brown weighing in at 2 pounds 8 ounces this morning - up from birth weights of 14 ounces 16 days ago. And then there is "bubba" one in every crowd you know... 18 ounces at birth, today 3 pounds 4 ounces... Dark Blue boy.

Hope this finds everyone well, sorry I have been a bit quiet the past few days but I went back to grooming on Monday and it probably was a little too soon. Lilly is doing great, puppies are wonderful however they are very time consuming still as I am sure you can all imagine. I will post pictures later actually have been taking some but they are scattered between my phone and camera. Today marks a big day for the puppies - eyes are opening! twelve days old is about right in the middle of the road for this so we are on a good roll. Everyone is fat and robust - they give new meaning to the word butter-ball... They are still 100% dependent on Lilly and I and have to be kept very warm well fed - every 2 hours they must eat and be pottied post eating. So Lilly and I take turns and it works. Just is a lot of work for both of us.

I want to share with you all a bit about the process here and time line. I am sure you guys are all wondering when do puppies go home? So lets start there - Go home day will be Saturday March 3 at noon time my home. Everyone comes at the same time we do paperwork I give you my spiel and we do questions and answers. All in a group so that everyone gets me fresh and everyone can benefit from the others questions. If you go to this link there is a sample of the go home notes and other stuff that I will be sending home. This is from a previous litter so please do not take this as on the mark, but should give you and idea of what to expect.

There is a copy of the contract there note it says 1100.00 on price, the price is as you know 1200.00 You should look over the contract though and if you have questions, please address me with those in the next week or so. There are also links to other pages of interest at the bottom of this page also.

Another link to share is this one, you all know that I choose the puppies for my families however this gives the reasons spelled out well.

At the point you are all at I think the two most relevant questions are: Who Should Pick The Puppy and the question below this one: How specific can we be as potential new owners - gender, color, etc. With regards to color we have goldens so the color is more of a range than actual color and as it says there color needs to be last on anyones list - temperament and personality that fit the family must be first...

On the whole choosing puppies thing too let me say this, the puppies are much to young for anyone to get attached to any particular puppy, but in the coming weeks there will be puppies you are drawn to. It is perfectly fine to tell me if you are but please try to find at least two puppies you like. (smile)

On links to share if you go to my home page and look at the section down the page quite a bit that is titled Internal Links pages written by Gina Heitz there are several pages of interest. http://www.briergoldens.com/

So now onto puppy family day - Sunday February 12th - 1 Pm to 4 Pm. This is an open house event, in other words please come spend some time with the puppies and go home! lol With 14 puppies and 13 families my kitchen is going to be very crowded otherwise. The puppies will be 5 weeks and we can be in with them hold them and such but please talk to your children about no carrying puppies around. Puppies this age are very wiggly and they can easily wiggle out of hand and drop to the floor. So my rule with children is sit on the floor and hold puppies all you want. Just no walking around with them. Note Merle - I will be ready for another batch of that FANTASTIC chili by then too.. Man was that good!!! Thank you!!! (smile)

So I think this is just about enough for one update with homework... You? Do let me know if you have questions. This week and into next week easiest time to reach me by phone is going to be 4:30 to 9:00PM during the day I am working and it's just too hard to groom dogs and talk on the phone. Email is fine for short need to know stuff but anything requiring me to give a lengthy explanation probably is best done by phone, I can multitask but not great typing with my toes. :-) I have also attached to this the deposit form, if you have not sent me a deposit I am comfortable taking them now. You can make your check out to Gina Heitz or to Brier Golden Retrievers which is my DBA.

To follow next week - homework - hum who knows? Only Gina... I am off to do some pictures now...
